Sony and Major League Gaming team-up

Sony Online Entertainment and Major League Gaming have announced a partnership to bring PlanetSide 2 to a competitive gaming audience.

According to a press release, PlanetSide 2 and the MLG team are working to develop competitive gameplay features and settings for the game. Sony Entertainment said, its committed to a long term eSports initiative within PlanetSide 2 that will highlight the game's multilayer for competitive gaming.

“From the first time I played PlanetSide 2, I knew that it made sense for the MLG community,” said Sundance DiGiovanni, CEO and co-founder of Major League Gaming in a press release.“I am excited to introduce the game to our audience and to see how it evolves along with the growing and evolving eSports landscape.”

Competitors in the massively multiplayer online first-person shooter will be able to use MLG's GameBattles system, that offers tournaments, leagues and forums and is home to about eight million registered gamers.

PlanetSide 2 will also appear at MLG's Winter Championship in Dallas from March 15 to 17.
